Litigation Secretary

(Boston, Full-time, Hybrid)

Fisher Phillips, a premier international labor and employment law firm, is seeking a skilled and experienced Litigation Secretary/Paralegal to join our team. In this essential role, you will help ensure the smooth operation of our services, directly supporting our attorneys in delivering exceptional client service and upholding our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Assistant

  • Prepare and process correspondence and legal documents.
  • Proofread documents and check for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar.
  • File legal documents with administrative agencies and state and federal courts throughout New England states.
  • Update client files, notebooks and pleading indices regularly.
  • Maintain and update calendar and docketing deadlines for attorneys.
  • Prepare and file documents following local rules.
  • Receive and screen phone calls.
  • Review and route incoming/outgoing mail and email, fax communications and messenger services.
  • Maintain and update contact names and address in the contact databases.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of vendor invoices; prepare accurate check requests and timely submit invoices for payment to client or accounting.
  • Prepare time entries for attorneys.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare itineraries.
  • Prepare travel expense reports and prepare expense reimbursements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma required (College degree is preferred, but not required).
  • Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, Pacer, ECF, iManage or other comparable document management system, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, CompuLaw and Excel. (Aderant knowledge is a plus.)
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal rules of civil procedure and e-filing rules.
  • Labor & Employment law experience preferred.
  • Ability to type accurately and efficiently including from dictation.
  • Possess basic PC skills; ability to use phone system, copier, scanner, fax, and printer.

The hourly rate range for this position is $42.05 - $43.59. Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
