The Innovation Pipeline Director

Department: Information Technology
Location: Atlanta, GA

(Atlanta, Full-time/Hybrid)

Fisher Phillips, a premier international labor and employment law firm, is seeking a The Innovation Pipeline (TIP) Director to join our team. In this key role, you will drive the firm’s Innovation Pipeline and support the continued advancement of AI and emerging technologies across the firm.

Position Summary

The hands-on Director leads The Innovation Pipeline, a small team that rapidly builds and tests AI solutions for Fisher Phillips. This leader turns ambiguous ideas into focused experiments, works directly on prototypes, and helps the firm decide which solutions merit further investment. The role combines product judgment, technical fluency, and the ability to earn trust with attorneys and business leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own idea intake and the prioritized pipeline. Evaluate opportunities by business value, feasibility, data readiness, effort, and fit with firm priorities.

  • Translate each selected idea into a short project brief covering the user problem, sponsor, scope, expected benefit, success criteria, timeline, and decision owner.

  • Lead short delivery cycles, remove obstacles, and coach two builders. Remain directly involved in prototyping, design decisions, troubleshooting, and demonstrations.

  • Select the simplest workable approach using approved AI tools, automation, or custom development. Evaluate existing capabilities and vendor options before committing to a build.

  • Set evaluation standards and compare results with the current workflow. Test output quality, failure cases, human review needs, cost, and practical usability.

  • Coordinate data access and confidentiality requirements with the appropriate firm teams. Establish clear review points before expanding a pilot or its access.

  • Manage team capacity and approved spending. Keep leadership informed through concise demonstrations, pipeline updates, and recommendations to advance, revise, or stop.

  • Prepare successful pilots for production delivery with IT or another agreed owner, including documentation, remaining work, support expectations, and estimated operating costs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience delivering technology products or workflow improvements from discovery through user testing, including leadership of a small delivery team.

  • A portfolio of working AI prototypes or applications and enough technical depth to build, review solutions, and explain their limitations.

  • Strong prioritization, stakeholder management, and written communication skills; ability to make progress when requirements are incomplete.

  • Sound judgment with confidential information and experience measuring business outcomes.

  • Must be hands-on and able to work alongside while leading the team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Law firm or professional services experience; familiarity with enterprise integrations, knowledge workflows, and moving prototypes into supported services.

  • Relevant education or equivalent practical experience is welcome.
